The TfL Oyster and contactless app offer convenient management of adult Oyster and contactless cards on the go. Users can easily top up pay as you go credit, purchase adult rate Travelcards, Bus & Tram Passes, and view journey history. The app allows checking of pay as you go balance, season tickets, incomplete journeys, and provides notifications for low balances or expiring Travelcards. Once credit is topped up or a pass is purchased, it becomes available for use after 30 minutes by touching the Oyster card on a yellow card reader during a journey.

Monitoring expenses is simplified through the app, enabling users to track journey details including date, time, and cost for up to 8 weeks. Customers can add their contactless card to an online account at contactless.tfl.gov.uk if not done previously. The app requests camera access for scanning payment cards, ensuring secure transactions without storing scanned images. However, Oyster photocards cannot be added to the app at present, and discounted tickets cannot be purchased through the app.

It is important to note that the TfL Oyster app does not support rooted devices for security reasons.
