FitNotes is a workout tracker that offers a simple and clean design. It allows users to view and navigate daily workout logs quickly by swiping between them or using the inbuilt calendar to navigate to a specific day. Users can add an exercise to the workout log and record sets of weight and reps or distance and time. The app also features a rest timer with sound and vibration options, the ability to attach comments/notes to sets, and the option to re-order exercises in a workout log.

The app includes an exercise database with a default selection of categories such as Chest, Back, and Legs, each containing a small default list of exercises. Users can create custom categories to better suit their training program, such as Olympic Lifts, Plyometrics, and Ab Training. FitNotes also offers two exercise types: Resistance and Cardio, allowing users to record training in weight and reps or distance and time.

FitNotes allows users to create routines to provide quick access to their most commonly used exercises. Users can assign exercises to a particular day within the routine, name a day whatever they want, and select a single exercise from a day within the routine to add it to the training log. The app also features a calendar that highlights dates on which users have recorded training logs, allowing them to tap a day in the calendar to display a popup listing the exercises performed on that day. Users can also backup their data to device storage or an online cloud service and export their training logs in CSV format.
