FakeGPS is an app that allows users to set up a fake GPS location on their phone, fooling other apps into thinking they are in a different location. The app has Tasker support and can be started and stopped from the command line. However, users should be aware that after using FakeGPS, their location may be locked to the last mocked location event after uninstalling the app. This is not a bug, and there are two ways to fix the issue: install GPS Status from the Play store and get a fresh GPS fix, or set the real location and leave it for several hours.

For rooted devices, users can mock locations without enabling the "Allow mock locations" option. They can use Root Explorer or a similar app to move the FakeGPS apk to /system/priv-app or /system/app and change the apk permissions to rw-r-r before rebooting the device. If the apk disappears after reboot, it means the device has S-ON mode enabled, and users should google how to switch their device to S-OFF mode.
